Development of Warrington's primary care enhanced access service
This consultation will be live from Tuesday 03 May 2022 until midnight, Tuesday 26 July 2022
Warrington’s Primary Care Networks (PCNs) have launched a consultation on Warrington’s extended access service to ensure proposed plans meet the needs of local residents.
Extended access offers bookable appointments for GP-led services later into the evening, at weekends and bank holidays, with appointments available at extended access hubs.
Currently, appointments are available at Bath Street Health and Wellbeing Centre. New proposals, however, will consider the service moving from Bath Street and expand to fixed location across Warrington for each day of the week, making the service more accessible for patients.
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are currently responsible for commissioning (buying) extended access services. However, with the national development of Primary Care Networks (PCNs), the funding and responsibility for extended access will transfer from CCGs to PCNs by October 2022.
Before the service launches in October 2022, Warrington’s five PCNs are asking people to consider whether the following are convenient:
- Times of appointments
- Appointment days
- Location of appointments
It is advised that you read the full Enhanced Access Consultation Document before completing the survey.
Drop-in sessions will also be held at GP Practices across the town, the details will be shared by your GP Practice so please look out for them.
If you are involved in a Third Sector Organisation and would like someone to come to one of your meetings in the above timescales to discuss the model, please contact us using the below details.
